The Shape of the New Course of the 17th Great Wall of China Marathon on May 1st,2018(Mar.8,2018)
On March 5,2018,the tunnel
near the Great Wall that all the world runners would run for the
17th Great Wall of China Marathon on May 1st,2018 was open.This is
the tunnel for the express way of Beijing Winter Olympic 2022.
So we can say that we would use two country roads as part of the
total 42K and 21K course.One is 5K in one way,and another is 2K in
one way,totally,we would have the 14km new course based on the
original Great Wall course.
The full marathoners would
run this 14k extending new course,the half marathoners would run the
7k extending new course.
They are flat roads almost with the same elevation.The elevation of
the original full and half marathon turning points is 621 metres
above the seas level,now the elevation of the new turning points of
the full and half marathon courses on the two roads are 613 metres
and 617 metres above the seas levels respectively.
The two new extending roads on the course map would bring the whole
world runners the completely new looks,one is the very quiet and
very remote Chinese countryside,another is that you would see the
extremely high-rapid development of China today.The contract is
amazingly striking!
The construction is still going on,and it would be completed by the
end of this year,so come to run and see how the surrounding of the
Great Wall in northwest Beijing changes here because of the Beijing
Winter Olympic Games 2022.
For the 5K runners,you would not see this,the 5K course is still the
same as last year,and for the 10K runners,you would be see the
construction site this year,and only the 10K runners would have the
FINISH point different from 5K,Half and Full marathoners.
It is expected that we would release the new course map of the 17th
Great Wall of China Marathon 2018 around Wednesday next week.
